Power Score: 3.8 | 5 Reviews
Strengths: Electric, easy to use
Weakness: Doesn't do ice well
This is a great snowthrower for the money. Purchased a 100 foot extension cord and all was well. My husband got the ice up with a shovel and then used the snowthrower to get it off of the driveway. We had about 6 inches of snow in Minnesota fall over the last few days. I was able to try it out at 9 months pregnant and it works just like a vacuum cleaner. So easy to use! I just have to watch out...
Strengths: Lightweight and easy to use. No clogging in wet heavy snow.
Weakness: None so far.
We have a big gas powered snowblower, but it is much to big for me to use. I needed something that was lightweight and could whip off a few inches of snow from our large driveway than muscling off with a shovel. This Toro is excellent. I've used it through 3 snow storms in about a month (New England weather). It has worked well in heavy wet snow and great in light powder. My husband is asking if...
Strengths: Light, electric powered, easy to unclog/clean
Weakness: The plastic deflector and its attachments are poorly designed; doesn't work well on inclined driveway; will often leave a layer of ice after one pass.
There are two bolts that hold the plastic deflector in place. The bolts have square heads, and the heads fit into slots molded into the surface of the plastic deflector, while you tighten locknuts onto the bolts. However, the first set of bolts and locknuts had defective threads--the company promptly sent me replacements. When trying to tighten the locknuts onto the bolts, the plastic deflector...
Strengths: Stronger than it appears.
Weakness: Chute clogs until you learn the secret.
When I assembled it the bolt holding the chute together would not thread. I had to use one of my own bolts. The chute will clog and not throw snow if it's heavy snow. One little tip is to spray WD-40 inside the chute and it throws like crazy. Strong little unit.

Toro 1800 Power Curve Electric Snowthrower
Strengths: Excellent power for the machine weight.
Weakness: The extension cord needs to be fliped out of the way for each pass.
I have had a total of around 7 feet of snow on my 30 by 40 foot concrete driveway so far this winter. This snowthrower has saved me hours of labor with the shovel. We have mostly powdery snow which is thrown the full 25 feet the manual claims. It has easily handled this kind of snow up to 10 inches at a time. For wet heavy snow it worked well up to about 4 inches. Since all the parts are plastic...
